Dead Stock
The Dead Stock tab scores every active listing in your shop against its age, view count, and like count, then sorts them into four health tiers. It surfaces the items that are tying up capital without producing sales, so you can decide whether to refresh, mark down, relist, or delete them.
When to use it
- Your shop is large enough that you can’t eyeball stale items yourself.
- You want a regular “triage” pass before listing new stock.
- You’re about to run Price Drops and want to pick the right candidates.
- You want to know how much money is sitting in stock that’s unlikely to sell.
How the classification works
Each active listing is placed in one of four tiers. The thresholds differ by marketplace because Depop and Vinted have different baseline engagement rates.
Depop
| Tier | Rule | | ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ | | Dead | 21+ days old AND (fewer than 5 likes OR fewer than 30 views) | | Stale | 10+ days old AND (fewer than 5 likes OR fewer than 30 views) | | Slow | 5+ days old AND (fewer than 3 likes OR fewer than 15 views) | | Healthy | Anything above those bars |
Vinted
| Tier | Rule | | ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ | | Dead | 30+ days old AND (fewer than 5 likes OR fewer than 40 views) | | Stale | 14+ days old AND (fewer than 5 likes OR fewer than 40 views) | | Slow | 7+ days old AND (fewer than 3 likes OR fewer than 20 views) | | Healthy | Anything above those bars |
Sold and hidden listings are excluded. Age is measured from the listing’s original creation date, not the last refresh.
A listing with 50 views but zero likes is failing differently from one with 5 likes but no views. Either is a warning sign. The OR catches both failure modes.
Reading the tab
The Dead Stock tab has four blocks, top to bottom:
- Tier counts - how many listings sit in each tier across the filtered marketplace(s).
- Capital at risk - the combined value of every Dead and Stale item, plus the age of the oldest such listing. This is the money you could free up by selling, marking down, or removing.
- Worst five - cards showing your five worst-performing listings. Ordered first by tier (Dead beats Stale beats Slow) and then by likes-per-day (lower is worse). Each card has a one-click Relist button.
- Full list - the complete classified inventory, filterable by tier and by marketplace. Each row shows the photo, title, price, age, tier badge, and engagement stats.
The filters at the top of the list let you narrow to a specific tier or marketplace without losing the row selection underneath.
Taking action
Selecting one or more rows opens the action bar at the bottom of the tab. From there you can:
- Relist - opens the relist overlay pre-filled with the chosen listings. See Relist.
- Clear selection - drops everything from the action bar.
For each individual listing you can also click straight through to the marketplace page to delete it manually, or jump to the Price Drops tab to add it to your markdown schedule.
The detector itself never edits or deletes anything. It’s purely diagnostic; every action is opt-in.
How the data is gathered
The detector reads from your Listings cache, which SaleLinx keeps in sync in the background while the panel is open and tops up with listing data picked up from your normal browsing.
If a listing was created very recently and view/like counts haven’t been recorded yet, it’s treated as having zero of each, which can briefly flag it as Slow.
Recommended workflow
A weekly triage that uses the detector to drive other tools:
- Open the Dead Stock tab and check the Capital at risk number.
- Filter to Dead items. For each:
- If you still want to sell at the current price, send it to Relist to give it a fresh listing date.
- If it’s priced too high, add it to Price Drops with an aggressive percentage.
- If you’ve already tried both, delete it on the marketplace and free the slot for new stock.
- Filter to Stale items and run Refresh on the lot.
- Leave Slow items alone until the next pass; they’re too young to act on.
Plan and access
Dead Stock is included on Starter, Pro and Business. The 7-day free trial grants Starter access, so trial users get the full tab too. The tab is locked end-to-end (full overlay, no preview) when the user has no active subscription.
Next steps
- Price Drops - schedule markdowns on the items you flag here.
- Refresh - cheap visibility bump for Stale items.
- Relist - the right tool for Dead items.
